“At less than 48 hours until I tied the knot, I found out the minister I was planning to use was absolutely not going to work and that I wouldn’t be allowed the small, but important, personalizations in my vows. In tears and in panic, I went hunting through the web, calling people, asking for recommendations, leaving messages, and in a massive state of nerves. I wasn’t local to the area where the wedding was being held or familiar with the churches and was doing all this on Thursday night and Friday…for a Saturday wedding! And then I found Melody…who was calm, understanding, supportive, and promptly sent me a set of vows to choose from, with the suggestion that I pick the ones I liked and alter them to my taste. It was hard to choose, they were all lovely, from poetic to traditional, but I picked one and altered only three lines to create the vows we wanted. Before the wedding, she helped settle my nerves with her professionalism and steady presence. During the wedding, I could tell that it was important to her, that she wasn’t just “doing a job” as the original minister seemed to view the wedding, but that she actually valued her role and the life-changing event she was participating in.
